A discount supermarket chain based in Germany, LIDL first entered the US in 2017 and, at the end of 2018, opened their first New York City store. Also in 2018, LIDL acquired Long Island-based Best Market, which had several New York City locations. Two became LIDLs in the following years, along with more on Long Island. The fast-growing low-priced chain is now in all five boroughs, with more locations on the way.
