Dating back to 1981 as Flying Food International, Gourmet Garage started as a wholesale-only business. By the 1990s, the first Gourmet Garage store opened, selling to chefs in the morning and the general public in the afternoon. Over the years, Gourmet Garage has become more of a mainstream grocer, and was acquired by New Jersey-based Village Super Market in 2019.
